Team Head – Dr Anna Sandiford
Originally a geologist, Dr Sandiford has been a Forensic Science Consultant in the UK and New Zealand for more than ten years.  She has considerable casework and court attendance experience, having prepared reports and statements for cases ranging from drink-driving through to murder.  She has extensive case management and review experience and provides advice across a broad range of scientific topics.  She is a Member of a number of relevant professional bodies including The Royal Society of New Zealand, The Forensic Science Society, The Independent Forensic Practitioners’ Institute and The Academy of Experts.  She is therefore governed by several Codes of Conduct and Ethics.

Dr Sandiford is one of a handful of Forensic Palynologists worldwide and is part of a highly-qualified and experienced Team that provides forensic environmental services to police forces, mainly in Europe.  She was the resident Forensic Science Adviser to the David Bain Defence Team during the 2009 three-month retrial.
